Authentication of Images and Video
The wide use of digital images on Internet and in elec-
tronic commerce demand grantees against malicious ma-
nipulations and for copyright protection. Thus, digital
watermarking technology has been developed to pro-
tect the copyright and integrity of multimedia contents.
Digital watermarking is the process of inserting a piece
of information (watermark) into multimedia contents
which can later be detected and verified for many pur-
poses, including image authentication or copyright pro-
tection. For image authentication purposes, it is essen-
tial that the watermarking algorithm is blind, secure
and so sensitive to trivial changes in image contents
and can localize the alteration detection.
We are developing so-called self-embedding algorithms
to not only localize the alteration, but also to restore
the missing image contents. (A. Ammar -126, A. Al-
